Rufous-Sided Towhee

This beautiful bird is looking for sunflower seeds in the snow beneath the Seattle BirdCam. It's not apparent in this video, but his eyes are deep red!

injenuity,

you've got a great picture of a Varied Thrush, a close cousin to the American Robin. Do you know where the picture was taken?

I have a couple of Towhee's in the ivy by my balconey. I played their calls from a clip i downloaded, the same sounds this towhee was making a day earlier. As soon I opened the window and began playing it, the curious towhee hopped onto the balconey railing to see where it was coming from! Got a good glimpse of the deep red eyes and colors, he was so pretty! He didn't stay long, as they seem to be shy birds, but he had to check it out:-)

Very cool! They *are* shy, nervous birds. I didn't know that they would come to a recorded call, where did you get it?
